National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW): Most People Are Fighting a Battle They Don't Talk About

This week is National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW)

Most people are fighting a battle they don't talk about. 1 in 6 will experience infertility. It's a statistic you never think you’ll be part of, but it can affect anyone. Infertility changes you. It breaks you down and leaves you in a dark place, left to pick up the pieces, and put back together.

Infertility is a disease that affects between 48 million couples and 186 million individuals globally.

A disease, yet most are left feeling misunderstood, criticized, questioned, alone, and shamed. There are no quick fixes. There is nothing simple about it. It's a physical, mental, emotional battle, that can consume you.

Whether you're at the beginning, middle, or end of your fertility journey, your story matters. Whether you're dealing with PCOS, cancer, endometriosis, male factor infertility, DOR, POF, or other issues, your story matters. Whether you’ve been doing timed intercourse, IUI, IVF, surrogacy, adoption, or are childless after infertility, your story matters.⠀

Every story is so different, but they all matter. ⠀

So, if you're feeling like your pain isn't valid, it is. If you're finding yourself comparing your journey to others, stop. Everyone goes through this difficult season in their own way, but we are all in this together. You matter. Your story matters.
