California Cryobank is the choice for independent parenthood
Building connections
Simply saying “we’re there for you” is one thing but providing real and useful tools and resources is another. California Cryobank always looks for opportunities to do both, for today and tomorrow.
Their Resources page is a great place for individuals to be linked directly to single-parent organizations where they can access information, resources, support groups, and more.
Parents can also view Family Stories to find independent parents who have shared their perspectives about using a donor to create their families.
Additionally, they feature several organizations and influencers on social media, including @mochasmc and @thesolomama, valuable resources on Instagram for single mothers by choice.
Premium resources
Their dedicated client services team is available by phone to help prospective parents choose their ideal donor. Check out their extensive and diverse portfolio which includes hundreds of qualified donors (from donation centers across the nation) that feature a variety of physical characteristics, ethnicities, religions, interests, and talents. Less than 1% of applicants will make it into their donor catalog due to their high standards and program requirements.
How does California Cryobank go above and beyond for their clients?
California Cryobank encourages families to purchase multiple vials from their donor, right from the start — especially if you think you may be interested in using that donor for future siblings. In that way, even if the donor retires or has vials that sell out quickly, you’ll be covered. Here’s how they make it easier to manage your multiple-vial purchase:
The California Cryobank Buyback Offer: Unused, unshipped vials are purchased back by California Cryobank for 50% of the original purchase price. Learn more here.*
California Cryobank's Family Today & Family Tomorrow® programs: Get FREE storage when you buy four or more vials. Learn more here.**
Anticipating a child's need for information, as well as the desire of families to stay connected, California Cryobank has created their Sibling Registry to help donor siblings and their parents find each other. ***
This is an entirely voluntary and complimentary service.
Those who choose to enroll in the Sibling Registry must report their pregnancy as a prerequisite to gain access.
Once enrolled, families will have access to information regarding potential siblings who have used their same donor and have chosen to enroll. Each Donor Sibling Group includes a Sibling Listing for that donor (from those who have chosen to participate), a Bulletin Board for sharing information, and sometimes the opportunity to contact other siblings and families who used your donor. At-home insemination (AHI) or intracervical insemination (ICI)
While ICI can be performed at your clinic, it is the most common method for at-home insemination. The ovulation cycle is carefully monitored to determine the best window for egg release. When it’s the right time, sperm is inserted into the cervix.
The following methods must be performed at a clinic.
Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
In preparation for an IUI procedure, sperm goes through a process called “sperm washing” to collect a concentrated amount of healthy sperm. Once the sperm has been prepped, it is placed directly into the uterus during, or close to, ovulation.
In vitro fertilization (IVF)
IVF uses eggs that are retrieved from an ovary, that are then combined with thousands of sperm in a lab setting. If embryos are formed, one (or more) will then be placed back into the uterus in hopes of pregnancy.
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
ICSI uses a single live sperm that is carefully injected in the middle of an egg (which has been collected from the ovary). This creates an embryo, which is then placed back in the uterus.
